Today we welcome a new Swedish manufacturer to Tho

Today we welcome a new Swedish manufacturer to Thonk - ‘DE’ (aka Djupviksel Elektronik) have been hidden deep underground designing and refining ‘ghost signal and distress call generators’ since 2020.

Now we can reveal that they are finally ready to emerge into the daylight and release them to the market exclusively at Thonk! These hauntological inspired devices got a great reaction from the visitors at Superbooth Berlin in May 2022.

The Bunker Archeology (DE-2) simulates the sounds of a Bunker by pushing a digital reverb tank to it’s limits, then adding in feedback and static tremolo circuits!
It's a 12HP Eurorack module and the world’s first ”bunker simulator”. The module is composed of two different sections: an overdriven digital reverb “tank” as well as frequency driven tremolo/VCA.
The “Acoustics” knob lets you change the overall acoustics of the bunker which in turn effects how static behaves . Since the static circuit is frequency driven, altering the frequency changes the overall behaviour of the static circuits speed and/or stuttering.

The Bristol Bloodhound (DE-3) is a 12HP oscillator with built in VCA, wave multiplier and a unique feedback circuit. The voltage controlled oscillator is capable of going from clean to very noisy and was designed to be a characterful and gritty VCO that can also solidly track 1v per octave and fulfil more traditional musical duties as well as sonically tearing things up!
The left hand side of the module provides a dedicated clean sine wave output with a switch allowing you to pull the oscillator range down so it can additionally serve as a LFO. The VCO sine core is an interpretation of the sine oscillator found in the Dreadbox antiphon (used with permission). The wave multiply section is derived from the CGS module with the same name (also used with kind permission from Ken Stone) with only minor adjustments – most notably a feedback section for creating harsher dynamics and noise. The wave multiplier can be used as a processer for external inputs also (field recordings, drum machines, other oscillators etc).

Who doesn’t love a good low pass resonant VCF? It’s arguably the beating heart of any subtractive synth – adding character, dynamics, and a good deal of retro-futuristic oddness to your patches. MKi & Erica Synths have set out to design a characterful Diode Ladder VCF that also sticks to super basic and widely available components. On top of that, the architecture is as approachable as possible by avoiding the tricky diff-pair setup that most classic ladder filters rely on.

Not so many people realise you can use the Turing

Not so many people realise you can use the Turing Machine as a Wavetable oscillator! Just patch the squarewave output from your VCO into the Turing Machine clock input and off you go.

The PULSES expander gives you a range of funky PWM style outputs and tones.
