Shadowbox is an Open Source optically-controlled digital drone synth where parameters are controlled by introducing or blocking light, based on Emilie Gillet’s Plaits Module. Shadowbox has been designed to harness the power of Mutable Instruments’ Plaits engine, but in a small, easy-to-solder, battery powered desktop device.

There are six light-dependent resistors which can be used to control pitch, timbre, morph, envelope and model of the internal oscillators. Shadowbox excels at creating wildly complex and evolving drones and sound textures!
