A great first outing for The Synth Shed at the Thonk office in Brighton today. An inclusive and friendly synth DIY workshop that is open to soldering beginners, veterans and everyone in-between.

The plan is it'll run the third Saturday of every month, the next one is Saturday November 16th. It's limited to ten places so drop @thesynthshed a message to reserve your place in advance!

Thonk is in central Brighton, just a 5 min walk from Brighton Train Station.

Plinky is an 8 voice expressive polyphonic touch synthesizer. It can be used as a desktop, handheld OR Eurorack device as standard. Control it with your fingers, the internal sequencer and external CV and Midi too!

This video has no external FX. This is all Plinky. The sounds can go from from fragile, melancholic pads to skronking bass drones and throbbing electronic arpeggios.

Think of it as an 8 stringed instrument, arranged in 8 vertical monophonic strips. On booting you can play Plinky straight away with those 64 main pads and lots of presets without reading the manual.

Later on you can dive into it's thorough function sections. Each of the 8 strings has:

* 4 oscillators or sampler grains, detuned by the movements of your fingers
* A white noise generator
* Two ADSR envelopes
* A resonant 2-pole low-pass gate
Distortion

Plinky also has global delay, reverb, high pass filter and saturation units along with a simple mixer, arpeggiator, sequencer and sampler.

The row of 8 shift keys (blue LEDs) along the bottom are used in conjunction with the main pads to select parameters, presets, sequencer patterns, and samples. Plinky also supports 4 external CV modulation sources, each with their own LFO.

Plinky can be used either as a standalone desktop instrument or can be mounted inside a Eurorack case as a 24HP module.

Kit out today - Link in bio. This is Befaco’s new collaboration with Robin Vincent aka Molten Music Technology. A stereo bypass module to gate control the send of your signals to your favourite effect!

Molten bypass features a hard/soft bypass control, to hard cut the return of your effect or allow the long tails of your reverb to stay after you bypass the effect. Also a gate/latch control to use either triggers or gates for control and a gain control for the returned signal.

We've had quite a few customers ask about spares of inlay aluminium disks for knobs. They have vintage gear with damaged knobs or with disks missing that need some love!

We now stock two sizes, the same high quality aluminium finish as used on our Synth Pointer knobs... not those rough ridged ones you find on cheap Aliexpress and eBay knobs!

If there are other diameter disks you think we should stock in the future please let us know the measurement in mm.

ONEIROI is a full-stereo synthesizer that easily creates dense atmospheres for hypnotic music or cinematic sound design. Featuring three oscillators, four effects, a looper, modulation with complex routing, and a randomizer.

At the core of module, there is a Sine Wave Oscillator, Wavetable/Supersaw, and a joyful Looper. This is followed by an FX section featuring a Multimode filter, a Resonator, a Delay, and a Reverb. The on-board randomizer creates instant patches at the touch of a button. The Looper can record the external input or the output with “Sound On Sound” looping.
