Missed Opportunities is a slim, convenient way to add life and variation to drum beats. At its core, it’s a set of probabilistic gates for pulse signals (similar to a Bernoulli gate). But like any module focused on a particular function, it can easily be mixed into all kinds of non-percussion patches to add a bit of spice. The on-board random generator means that it can be used as four channels of random pulses, but it really shines when spliced between two modules in a conventional patch to mix things up. And because it has four channels, it can easily do a bit of both simultaneously!

Missed Opportunities offers not only four channels of probabilistic gating, but also a random pulse generator that’s normalled to channel 1 with no input connected. It features a Density input to add CV control over the likelihood of skipping and a Reset input to jump to the start of the current seed (more on that in the manual!). The input of each channel is normalled to the output of the prior channel, with the exception of channel 1 which is fed by the random generator if nothing is plugged in. Each channel offers a different probability value, and even more can be obtained by chaining the channels. But what makes Missed Ops really special is the Missed/Match switch, which allows interesting channel patterns to be created through normalling.

Features highpass, bandpass and lowpass modes that are switchable independently per filter, with L & R OUTs straight from the filters themselves for individual/dual mono operation. The STEREO IMAGE circuit pans the filter's audio from hard L / R at the knob's CW position, mono at 12 o'clock, inverted R \ L at its CCW position and everywhere in between, allowing everything from subtle stereo effects and crossfading, to aggressive AM and weird stereo stuff. This circuit comprises of 4 internal VCA's and is completely independent from the filters. IMÁGENES has a LINK switch to slave the right side filter cutoff frequency to the left side, which allows for both filters to be controlled simultaneously, either manually or via CV and V/OCT control. Both filter frequencies and image are fully CV controllable up to audio rates, with dedicated attenuverters for all these inputs. IMÁGENES can also self-oscillate cleanly across the audio spectrum and has dedicated V/OCT inputs with good tracking over 5 octaves. This means you can use the module as a dual/stereo sine VCO and it also pings very nicely! Soft-clipping is applied to the input when going past 12 o'clock on the INPUT LEVEL knob, giving a fatter sound for the filters to chew on. When the DRIVE switch is engaged the audio input amplitude triples after the soft-clipping stage and right before the filters; this can be used to bring weak signals up to modular level or to overdrive and distort the filters.$

Noise Plethora is out today and on sale now!

A monster new release from @befacosynth, Noise Plethora is a multi-algorithmic three-channel noise generator in 14HP. The module has small displays that show you which of the algorithms is currently active. You can select between dozens of algorithms manually or CV-control the selection. Each algorithm has a set of CV-controllable X/Y parameters allowing for subtle movements all the way through to growling sweeps!

There are dedicated analog multimode filters for each channel (LP/BP/HP). The filters allow some warmth to be added to the noise, and the range of filters makes it easy to sculpt different textures and noises and play with them intuitively and musically. The filtering stage also offers CV control for further modulation of the sound.

The first two noise channels let you choose from a range of different algorithms and each channel can be controlled dynamically by two CV controls. Textures, rumbles, low-fi blips, spikes, oscillator clusters, harsh noises, and much more can be chosen and changed on the fly! The third channel differs from the other two and has three independent outs: White noise, Gritty noise and also a filtered output with the option to route either gritty or white noise through the filter. Gritty noise specialises in creating crispy and crackling sound landscapes, there is a CV control for grit quantity as well.

Brighton & Hove Food Partnership help Brighton's emergency food services this winter, RISE is an independent, Brighton-based registered charity that helps people affected by domestic abuse and The Clocktower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre for homeless 16-to-25 year olds in Brighton. Designed to integrate external signals into the modular world, Unknown Devices @unwndevices presents Sawari: a combination of preamplification, equalization, and envelope follower. Sawari is another take on Music Thing Modular’s Microphonie and Mutable Instruments Ears, but wait, there’s more! Link in bio.

Sawari offers up to 40dB of gain for high impedance instruments – great for introducing electric guitars, basses, or external contact microphones. From there, a three-band EQ provides everything from subtle shaping to extreme resonating frequencies. By default, each band offers up to 6dB of boost or cut, but this can be extended up to 12dB by pressing the EQ Boost button. Additionally, each EQ band has an individual output, offering creative flexibility for multi-band processing of the input signal.

Lot of features where kept (and amplified) from Ears (and Microphonie), Sawari also has a contact microphone under the panel and an envelope follower which can be now controlled with the attack and release potentiometers on the panel. The envelope follower can be set to either pre or post EQ with on a jumper on the back of the module—great for making precise frequency-based modulations. Sawari’s main output is processed through a diode clipping limiter, allowing for overdriven and hard-clipping tones. The main output sums the pre-amplified input or internal contact microphone with the modules auxiliary input as well.

Reposted from @my_one_opus Two more builds done! These two #NorthCoastSynthesis modules were kits from @thonksynth and hands down, they have the most in-depth build documentation (including explanations of the circuit as you build and calibrate) and highest quality components I’ve had in a kit!
Would highly recommend either (or both) the #MiddlePathVCO or the #LeapfrogFilter either for build experience or sound, albeit the calibration on the leapfrog was quite long (and I didn’t do the full version either as it sounds great with just the standard!)

"While it’s common for classic circuits to be reused, cloned and emulated it’s not as often we see them expanded on. So I was excited to see that Dannysound’s Eurorack filter module takes a classic filter design and expands it in several ways. The Multimode Ladder Filter is based on the 1960s classic Moog transistor based low pass ladder filter design but it expands it by being multimode (with added band pass and high pass), it adds level control to clean up or further saturate the filter, features additional CV control with attenuation and compensates for the lost low end at higher resonance settings which is a characteristic found in the original Moog filter.

This video is a demo of the module as well a tutorial offering 9 patches for pushing your filtering creatively. Try these in your systems and leave a comment letting me know how you get on.
