Designed to integrate external signals into the modular world, Unknown Devices @unwndevices presents Sawari: a combination of preamplification, equalization, and envelope follower. Sawari is another take on Music Thing Modular’s Microphonie and Mutable Instruments Ears, but wait, there’s more! Link in bio.

Sawari offers up to 40dB of gain for high impedance instruments – great for introducing electric guitars, basses, or external contact microphones. From there, a three-band EQ provides everything from subtle shaping to extreme resonating frequencies. By default, each band offers up to 6dB of boost or cut, but this can be extended up to 12dB by pressing the EQ Boost button. Additionally, each EQ band has an individual output, offering creative flexibility for multi-band processing of the input signal.

Lot of features where kept (and amplified) from Ears (and Microphonie), Sawari also has a contact microphone under the panel and an envelope follower which can be now controlled with the attack and release potentiometers on the panel. The envelope follower can be set to either pre or post EQ with on a jumper on the back of the module—great for making precise frequency-based modulations. Sawari’s main output is processed through a diode clipping limiter, allowing for overdriven and hard-clipping tones. The main output sums the pre-amplified input or internal contact microphone with the modules auxiliary input as well.

Reposted from @my_one_opus Two more builds done! These two #NorthCoastSynthesis modules were kits from @thonksynth and hands down, they have the most in-depth build documentation (including explanations of the circuit as you build and calibrate) and highest quality components I’ve had in a kit!
Would highly recommend either (or both) the #MiddlePathVCO or the #LeapfrogFilter either for build experience or sound, albeit the calibration on the leapfrog was quite long (and I didn’t do the full version either as it sounds great with just the standard!)

"While it’s common for classic circuits to be reused, cloned and emulated it’s not as often we see them expanded on. So I was excited to see that Dannysound’s Eurorack filter module takes a classic filter design and expands it in several ways. The Multimode Ladder Filter is based on the 1960s classic Moog transistor based low pass ladder filter design but it expands it by being multimode (with added band pass and high pass), it adds level control to clean up or further saturate the filter, features additional CV control with attenuation and compensates for the lost low end at higher resonance settings which is a characteristic found in the original Moog filter.

This video is a demo of the module as well a tutorial offering 9 patches for pushing your filtering creatively. Try these in your systems and leave a comment letting me know how you get on.

DrumKid is a lo-fi aleatoric drum machine from @matt_bradshaw_design . It generates rhythms using random numbers. It’s designed to be used for both live performance and recording, with controls that allow organic transitions between rhythms and fills. The dumkid’s character of lo-fi samples and effects are great for indie/glitch music, but its MIDI capabilities also make it a great choice for triggering samplers and drum machines. DrumKid’s hackable, open source design also means that makers and coders can customise its features.

Tactile Sampler & Gate Generator!

lt is a lovely day in the studio and you have captured a horrible goose and put it into your synthesizer. Big Honking Button is, well, a big button that honks. Okay- okay, before you run away- it’s actually a simple sampler in a very silly package! It has pitch CV, gate in, gate out, and you can store up to 8MB of samples on it.

Out of the box, Big Honking Button will give you a nice “HONK!” every time you press that delicious button. However, the fun doesn’t stop there. You can easily connect this module to your computer with a standard USB cable (the USB port is on the bottom of the module) and it’ll show up as a teeny tiny external drive. You can then put your own samples onto it and even customize its behaviour. This kit is very beginner friendly, requiring you to solder only 7 through-hole components. All surface mount components are already soldered and it’s already programmed. It can be put together in about 2 hours.

The Winterbloom Castor & Pollux DIY kit is back in stock. This demo is a clip from a 'Red Means Recording' demo on YouTube, full link below.

Castor & Pollux is a Roland Juno-inspired oscillator. It contains two digitally-controlled analog oscillators implemented using a faithfully modernised version of the original Juno 106 design. Like its inspiration, it can give you that wonderful ‘80s sound with independent and mixed ramp, pulse, and sub outputs. But the twins do not stop there- the second oscillator can be used to layer in thick detuned sounds, harmonically complex hard synced waveforms, or as a fully independent second voice.
