We have a big batch of new stuff available this week:
And more, see below.
It’s nearly that time of year again. Come hang out with loads of friendly musicians, sound designers, modular geeks and manufacturers.
Equally welcoming to those bringing a mountain of gear or those coming empty-handed but with a head full of questions.
Parking is free and only metres from the venue, you don’t have to battle Brighton traffic to get there. Sussex Uni is a quiet and relaxed environment. Public transport from Brighton is also easy, it’s one quick train from Brighton station and a short walk through the campus.
Naturally it’s a great place to check out Thonk kits and gear too.
Tables are provided, bring your own speakers and headphones. There is a supermarket, cash machine, cafe and restaurant on site.
SID GUTS full kits will sell out soon, but there’s now a wishlist open for the loose SID GUTS PCBs and Panels which go on sale in one week.
We have new Synthrotek stuff in stock. The Atari Punk Console is new to Thonk, this things spits out some really raw chiptune type tones. We also have a restock of the EKO delay PCB and Panels too.
A restock of the 4MS PEG kits are about 3 weeks away, so do join the wishlist if you want to snag one of those. Also in about 4 weeks we will be stocking kits from RYO – Roll Your Own.
I’ll be heading up to the London Modular Meet next week, so come along if you want to check out any Thonk modules in action.
It runs from 9am – 6pm at Middlesex University – Map
For more info on the meet itself then contact james@flipside-soundsystem.
If you want to see anything specific then drop me a line, here are the latest products in stock.
The ALM SID GUTS DIY Kit is in stock.
Bringing the majesty of Commodore 64 PWM to Eurorack DIY.
We have new kits to suit all price ranges and abilities this week.
First we have the Circuit Abbey ‘4×4 Mult’ Kit. This is the perfect kit for beginners. It’s simple and quick to construct, inexpensive & doesn’t require any special tools; just a soldering iron and solder.
… and at last we have a restock on the TTSH ‘Rare Parts Kit’ and also the ‘Synth Tech’ style knobs, which are now cheaper and have bulk discount options.
I have just opened a new Wishlist for the Strakal Brulu, a fantastic Germanium Fuzz module kit from TouellSkouarn. It uses two vintage Soviet NOS Germanium Transistors and it is a dirty, dirty thing.
It’s going to be produced in a very limited batch and the vintage components need to be tested and graded one by one before packing in kits.
Due to this it’ll be released in small batches which will be offered up to people in the order they join the wishlist.

Also new in stock:
A few more new products came into stock today.
Firstly we have this fantastic Japanese IC Extractor tool. Whilst preparing the SID GUTS DIY kits it became clear that an IC extractor tool becomes fairly indispensable for pulling chips with 28 pins (there are two on the SID). My Tool OCD led me to try loads of the cheaper tools out there and frankly… they all suck! This precision Japanese tool is head and shoulders above the rest so seemed like a perfect addition to the store. This tool will be made available as a specific option on the SID GUTS DIY kit at a reduced price, so if you’re waiting for SID you might want to hold off buying it… we’re very close.
Next up are these brass knob inserts, these are the same internals you’ll find in the Davies 1900h clone knobs I stock, these are the perfect base to DIY your own knobs from wood, clay, sugru.. or even 3d printed? They are also an adequate solution to fitting a knob in a very small space.
Red and Blue Emerson Banana Jacks are back in stock and I now have bulk discounts on Red, Blue and Black banana jacks.
It’s a while since we’ve done an update on new stock, future stock and restocks. So deep breath…
Synthrotek EKO Delay PCB+Panel+Chip – Compact digital emulation of a ‘bucket brigade’ style delay/echo with feedback. With CV control in 4hp.
Manhattan Analog CP3 Mixer PCB+Panel – The Manhattan Analog clone of the classic Moog Modular CP3 mixer. With an old school sound that drives low pass filters in a really musical way. It’s the dirty buddy to the clean MIX…
Manhattan Analog MIX PCB+Panel – The Manhattan Analog 3 channel hi-fi mixer. A simple, modern, clean and low noise design.
PJ302M – Right angled 3.5mm Jack Sockets – Further expansion of our 3.5mm jack range, a part that’s popular with 4ms and other manufacturers.
ALM SID GUTS DIY – A DIY version of the sought-after ALM module. Based on the Commodore 64 SID sound chip.
Toppobrillo PCBs – Buchla 281 clone & Triple Wavefolder
Expert Sleepers Floating ring cables

If you want a chance to purchase a kit in the next batch then don’t forget to sign up for the wishlist here. In the interests of fairness the kits were limited to one kit per customer, I may remove this limitation for the next batch.
